Making a Caring Statement

Representing MAC employees are Cathy Hutcheson, Rusty Straughan, Rhonda Bales, Lisa Johnson, Angie Schwent, Beth Lambert, Tanya DeGonia, Todd Kline and Lisa Leftridge.
At the August back-to-school workshop, Mineral Area College employees participated in the Farmington Kiwanis Club’s second annual "Friends Helping Friends" supply drive to assist the Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council’s local shelter for women and their children who are victims of domestic or sexual violence.  The community-wide Kiwanis efforts yielded approximately four pick-up truckloads of supplies.  Donated items included cleaning supplies, personal and children's care items, back-to-school supplies and gently-used women's and children's clothing.

Throughout the academic year, MAC’s student organization Omega Leo organizes a similar supply drive.  In addition to providing much needed items for the shelter, MAC helps create an awareness of domestic and sexual violence issues in our community.
