Cardinal Athletic Events, the Week That Was (October 8– October 14)

Midnight Madness

 


Mineral Area Volleyball


The Mineral Area Volleyball team is now 22-3 on the year and started the week ranked 5th in the country, the best any MAC Volleyball team has ever been ranked. The Lady Cards traveled to Council Bluffs, IA to compete in the Reiver Festival hosted by Iowa Western Community College on Friday and Saturday. They finished the weekend 2-2. On Friday, they beat Northeastern in 3 straight games. (25-9,25-21, and 25-19) Then in the night cap, the Cardinal’s faced the #2 ranked team in the country, Iowa Western. The Lady Cards fell in 4 games losing 16-25,17-25,25-20, and 16-25. On Saturday, the Lady Cards fell to the #10 ranked team in the country New Mexico Military in 4 games. (24-26,25-20,14-25, and 21-25) The Lady Cards bounced back in the final game of the weekend and beat Central-Columbus in 3 straight games. (25-19, 25-14, and 25-11)

Mineral Area Women’s Basketball


The Women’s Basketball team had their first pre-season scrimmage this Saturday, 10/13. The Lady Cards have invited Northeast MS, John A. Logan, and Southwest TN, to participate. The games started at 10am with a half-court game for 50 minutes, alternating between offense and defense every 5 minutes. Then each team played full-court scrimmages with four 10-minute running clock quarters. The Lady Cards had a great showing and played very hard against the 3 other teams. Since it was just a scrimmage no scores were recorded.


Mineral Area Softball


This week MAC Softball finished their fall season with 2 contest. On Tuesday 10/9, The softball team played a double-header at St. Louis Community College. The Lady Cards lost both games to the Archers 6-3 and 12-1. Then on Wednesday 10/10, they drove to Jefferson City to take on Lincoln University. The Lady Cards fell to Lincoln in both games 13-11 and 9-1.


Mineral Area Golf


The Golf team traveled to Indiana on October 11-13. They participated in the National Preview Tournament at Swan Lake Resort. Mineral Area Golf had two players finish in the top ten, Tyler Andres (5th) and Kobe Franklin(10th). Weather conditions were tough and the MAC men endured 35 degree temperatures and rain to play the first day and the second day started at 34 degrees. Blake Hammond, Lucas Spray, Jack Walling, and Jordan McFee also attended and each played well.


Mineral Area Baseball


The Alumni Game was cancelled on Saturday 10/13, due to bad weather.


Cardinal Athletic Events, the Week Ahead (October 15- October 21)


Midnight Madness is Wednesday, October 17. Tailgating starts at 5pm in front of the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse.


Mineral Area Volleyball


The Mineral Area Volleyball team will play at home this Wednesday, 10/17. They have a critical Region 16 match up against MSU-West Plains. The winner will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Regional Tournament. The Volleyball team kicks off Midnight Madness with game time at 6:30pm. Please come out and support your Lady Cardinals.


Mineral Area Baseball


The Mineral Area Baseball travels to Joplin, MO on Saturday, 10/21. The Cards will take on Missouri Southern in a double header starting at 1pm.


Mineral Area Golf


The Golf team will finish their Fall season this Tuesday, 10/16, at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington. The Mineral Area Golf team will host Lewis and Clark in a match play style tournament. Tee-off is 11:30am.


Mineral Area Women’s Basketball


The Women’s Basketball pre-season will continue this Saturday, October 20, in Lawrence, KS. The Lady Cards were invited to participate in the Dave Neely Event at the Sports Pavilion in Lawrence. MAC is one of thirty-six teams participating in the event.


Mineral Area Men’s Basketball


The MAC Cardinals will continue their pre-season this Sunday, 10/21, in Carbondale, IL. They will play on the campus of SIU in a series of 3 scrimmages.

Mineral Area Cross Country


MAC Cross Country will travel to St. Louis to participate in the St. Louis Fall Classic. Race time is 9:00am.
