Cardinal Athletic Events, Week That Was (February 25-March 3)

Mineral Area Women’s Basketball

On Friday, March 1, the Women’s Basketball team ended their season with a heartbreaking loss to Moberly in the Region 16 Tournament in Jefferson City, MO. The Lady Cards lost 59-58. Leading scorers for the Cardinals were: Holly Forbes with 24 points, 18 rebounds and Natalia Lalic with 12 points. MAC finished the season 21-9 and had 3 players named to the All-Region Team, 1st Team: Holly Forbes and Mayson McWilliams and 2nd Team: Keanna Williams. Congrats Ladies.

Mineral Area Men’s Basketball

On Tuesday, February 26, The Cardinals had a Region 16 play-in game here at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse. The Cards beat State Fair, 91-81, for the 3rd time this season to make it to the Region 16 Tournament Semi-finals in Jefferson City. Leading scorers for MAC were David Kachelries with 26 points, Yahuza Rasas with 25 points, and Patrick Strzala with 23 points. Then on Thursday, 2/28, the Cardinals faced Moberly in Jefferson City. Moberly beat MAC 104-78. The Cardinals finished the season with a record of 23-9, and had several players named to the AllConference and All-Region teams. 1st Team selections were David Kachelries and Yahuza Rasas, and Steve Wooten made 2nd Team in both. Congratulations!

Mineral Area Baseball

Baseball lost a pair of games this past weekend at home against St. Charles Community College. Game 1 score was 6-2 and game 2 score was 7-5. The Cardinals are 9-2 on the season and Caleb Feuerstake was named Region 16 Offensive Player of the Week. Congrats.

Mineral Area Softball

Softball finally started their season last week. On 2/25, the Cardinals lost a double-header to Shawnee Community College by the scores of 8-5 and 9-3. Then on Tuesday, 2/26 the cards traveled to Dyersburg State in Tennessee. MAC dropped a double-header to Dyersburg by the scores of 2-0 and 7-1. On Wednesday, 2/27, Jefferson College came to town for a doubleheader. The Lady Cards got beat in both games by the scores of 22-2 and 6-5.

Mineral Area Golf

The Mineral Area College Golf team traveled to Tyler, Texas to participate in the TJC Invitational Golf Tournament last week, February 24-26. With only one day of outside practice, MAC played in this prestigious early season tournament that included several 4 year schools. The MAC golfers placed ninth in the tournament. As a team, MAC shot 689 for the two days. Scores and places for MAC were:

Mineral Area Baseball

Baseball will play at home this entire week. On Wednesday, 3/6, the Cardinals will host Williams Baptist for a double-header starting at 12pm. Then on Sunday, 3/10 and Monday, 3/11, State Fair will travel to Park Hills for a four game series (DH each day). Game times are Sunday at 1pm and Monday at Noon.

Mineral Area Softball

Softball will Travel to Neosho, MO this weekend and play in the Crowder Bash Tournament. Game times are below: Friday 3/8: MAC v. Coffeyville 4:00pm MAC v. Connors State 6:00pm

Saturday 3/9:

MAC v. Fort Scott 4:00pm

MAC v. Allen County 6:00pm
Sunday 3/10 MAC v. Indian Hills 9:00am

MAC v. Highland 11:00am

Mineral Area Golf

The Golf teams next tournament is at home on March 24-25.

Mineral Area Track

First track meet is March 30 at Lindenwood University.
